Araghchi: The aggression against Venezuela is a clear violation of the UN Charter

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Bruno Rodríguez, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone conversation to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, During the call, the two sides exchanged views on existing capacities to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest and on strengthening coordination within international organizations.

Condemning the U.S. military aggression against Venezuela, Iran’s foreign minister described the move as a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental principles of international law, stressing the responsibility of all governments and the UN to take a firm and explicit stance against this dangerous breach of law.

Araghchi also praised the Cuban government and people for their resilience in the face of threats, illegal economic pressure, and external intimidation.

Cuba’s foreign minister, for his part, condemned the illegal and destabilizing actions of the United States in the Caribbean and Latin America, particularly the recent unlawful attack on Venezuela and the abduction of its president and his spouse. He emphasized Cuba’s determination to stand against any foreign threat and underscored the need for cooperation and coordination among friendly countries to counter aggressive unilateralism.

The foreign ministers of Iran and Cuba also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially within the framework of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter and the Non-Aligned Movement.
