According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, The Public Diplomacy and Information Center of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran announced that the operation to install the blocks of the third ring of the inner protective shell of the reactor building at Unit 2 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant was successfully carried out by domestic specialists.
At present, the connection and welding operations of the blocks at Unit 2 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant are underway, and after the formation of an integrated ring in the coming months, concreting operations for this unit will be carried out.
The installation of the 12 blocks of the third ring of the inner protective shell of the reactor building was completed over four weeks, despite unfavorable weather conditions such as rainfall and strong seasonal winds, and in full compliance with safety principles.
With the installation of the third ring, the height of the reactor building containment at Unit 2 of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has increased by 14 meters, reaching a total height of 40 meters.
The equipment transfer hatch to the reactor building is located in this ring. Given the 140-ton weight of this component—compared to an average weight of about 60 tons for other components—its installation was carried out with special sensitivity and specific safety measures.
According to the schedule, the fourth ring of the inner containment of the reactor building is set to be installed in 2026.
