Latest Status of International Flights to Iran

While most flights operated by regional and neighbouring airlines to Iran continue as scheduled, Lufthansa’s return to Iran has been postponed to the spring 2026 flight schedule.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, A review of the latest status of international flights to Iran shows that the majority of services by airlines from the region and neighbouring countries remain operational, with regional air traffic continuing on a regular basis.

According to Ramin Kashef-Azar, CEO of Imam Khomeini International Airport City, all regional airlines are currently operating flights to Iran, with the exception of Pegasus Airlines. He said carriers, including flydubai, with three daily flights, Qatar Airways with two daily flights, as well as Air Arabia, Turkish Airlines, Jazeera Airways, and AJet, are continuing their services to Iran.

By contrast, the return of several European airlines has been delayed. Under revised plans, Lufthansa, which had been expected to resume flights to Iran in January 2026, has cancelled its winter schedule and postponed the resumption of services to April 2026.

Austrian Airlines, a Lufthansa Group subsidiary, which had resumed direct Vienna–Tehran–Vienna flights in November after several months of suspension, has also temporarily halted its operations. The airline has announced late February as a potential timeframe for its return.

Officials at Imam Khomeini International Airport said efforts are ongoing to facilitate the swift return of European airlines to  Iran’s airspace.
