Khorramshahr-4 Enters Iran’s Missile Cities, Sending a New Deterrence Signal

During the unveiling of a new missile city operated by the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday night, the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile was seen among the operational systems deployed at the site—an event observers describe as signaling a new phase in Iran’s deterrence strategy.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, According to the information released, the Khorramshahr-4 has a range of about 2,000 kilometers and carries a 1,500-kilogram warhead, making it one of Iran’s heaviest operational ballistic missiles. Its reported accuracy is around 30 meters, while its speed reaches up to Mach 16 outside the atmosphere and Mach 8 within it, significantly reducing the reaction time of enemy air-defense systems.

The missile is equipped with a maneuverable reentry vehicle (MaRV), mid-course guidance, a reduced radar cross-section, and high resistance to electronic warfare. Analysts say this combination of features substantially enhances its penetration capability against missile-defense networks.

The operational deployment of the Khorramshahr-4 in missile cities, alongside official statements about a shift in Iran’s military doctrine, is being interpreted by analysts as a clear message to regional and extra-regional actors: Iran’s missile capability has not only been preserved, but has been steadily upgraded in terms of accuracy, speed, and penetration power.

In this context, the IRGC’s political deputy told the Al-Mayadeen news network that the unveiling of the Khorramshahr-4 underscores Iran’s commitment to maintaining its defensive strength. He stressed that Tehran’s engagement in diplomatic talks does not mean relinquishing its military capabilities.

The senior IRGC official added that Iran is not seeking war, but warned that any miscalculation against the country would be met with a decisive response. He also said Iran’s negotiating team enters talks with confidence rooted in the country’s military capabilities, emphasizing that preserving missile power enjoys broad domestic consensus and remains a core element of Iran’s national defense posture.

According to observers, these developments highlight that Iran’s missile program continues to be a key factor in regional security dynamics, while also playing a central role in Tehran’s strategic messaging on deterrence and diplomacy.
