Iran Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Lebanon, Urges UN Action

Iran has strongly condemned what it described as “criminal attacks” by Israel on Lebanese territory, following airstrikes that reportedly killed and injured more than 40 Lebanese and Palestinian civilians.

According to KhabarOnline, Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, denounced the strikes carried out yesterday and overnight by what he referred to as the “Zionist regime.”

The attacks targeted several locations in Lebanon, including the Bekaa Valley and the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain al-Hilweh in the southern city of Sidon.

According to Baghaei, the strikes resulted in the deaths and injuries of over 40 Lebanese and Palestinian civilians.

The spokesperson further accused Israel of continuing what he called “blatant violations” of Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as breaching the November 2024 ceasefire agreement.

Baghaei also held the guarantors of the ceasefire—namely the United States and France—directly responsible for what he described as crimes committed by Israel.

He stressed the need for immediate action by the United Nations and the UN Security Council to fulfill their legal responsibilities in halting Israeli military operations against Lebanon.
