A senior Iranian lawmaker has slammed foreign interventions in the internal affairs of the nations across Asia and North Africa, saying the regional countries should determine their own fate.

Speaking at the Tuesday meeting of the Permanent Committee for Social and Cultural Affairs of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in the Iranian capital city, Tehran, Iran’s First Deputy Majlis (parliament) Speaker Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard reaffirmed the country's resolve to utilize all its potentials to defend the regional countries, including Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The people of these countries should determine their own fate without the intervention of the foreign countries,” Aboutorabi-Fard pointed out.
The Iranian legislator argued that foreign intervention has always constituted a major challenge in Asia, saying, “If Asia’s enormous potential manifests itself in real cooperation and convergence, the foreign forces and occupying powers will no longer be able to interfere in the countries’ affairs, create discord and ignite the flame of war.”
