His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa had issued Royal Order No. 28/2012, amending provisions of Royal OrderNo. 46/2009 on the Establishment of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), responsible for promoting and protecting human rights, consolidating its values and contributing to securing its practices, as an independent entity compliant with the Paris Principles, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 134/48 (1993).
The website provides a comprehensive overview forthose who specialize and are interested in human rights issues, both within the Kingdom of Bahrain or abroad,such as the national legislations, core international human rights treaties and covenants, in addition to many related sites dedicated to the protection and promotion of human rights.
One of the website’s main features is the online complaint form service, as it is one of the most important functions of the institution,according to Article III, paragraph (e): “To receive complaints concerning human rights, study and refer whatever the Institution decides to the concerned authority, follow them efficiently or educate the concerned authority about the procedures to be followed and assist them in adopting them or aid in settling them with the concerned authorities.”
The website will also serve as the ultimate reference for human rights studies and research purposes. The work is underway at the completion of the second phase of the website, which will be in English.
