The imported cars, valued at about $146.974 million, were over 30 percent more than the figure corresponding to the same period in the previous year, according to the ISNA news agency.
In February, Iranian MP Ali Alilou said Iran is planning scrap all car import tariffs in the next two years.
Alilou, who is a member of the Majlis Industries and Mines Committee, said the measure is necessary to boost domestic production and make the auto industry competitive.

Iran imported 51,474 cars in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, a 115 percent rise year on year.
