Director-General of Border Transit and Terminals of the Roads Maintenance and Transportation Organization Mohammad Javad Atrchian said that over 6.494 million tons or 96% of oil and non-oil goods were transited on roads and 265 thousand tons or 4% by railroad.
He said improvement of transportation infrastructure and strengthening of transit corridors through Iran has led to an increase of 6% in roads transit in comparison with the same period last year.
Atrchian said that 3.182 million tons of transited goods were oil products and 3.576 were non-oil goods.
Iran is located in the South-North corridor with the Iranian part of the corridor starting in Chabahar in the South and stretching up to the Northeastern city of Mashhad.
