Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a true friend of the Syrian nation and government, adding that Iran would continue its efforts to provide help until the Syrian Government will overcome the crisis.

Amirabdollahian is in Syria's Latakia in order to inspect quake-stricken areas of this city.

He said that the Red Crescent of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have been providing aid to the Syrian people since the earthquake hit Syria.

 The Iranian minister was welcomed by local officials upon his arrival at the Latakia Airport.

FM Amirabdollahian, who is visiting Syria, landed in Latakia on Thursday, which is located on the Mediterranean coast.

Prior to this, Amirabdollahian had visited the quake-stricken areas of the Turkish city of Adiyaman.

Amirabdollahian had met and discussed with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and the two sides participated in a joint press conference.
