Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has accused the Persian Gulf littoral states of funding and supporting terrorist operations inside Iran.

“The confessions of some captured terrorists indicate that certain Persian Gulf littoral states and neighboring countries give them money and arms and encourage them to carry out terrorist operations in our country,” Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Wednesday.

“Unfortunately, the security services of some of our neighboring countries are instrumental in organizing terrorists and we have evidence of this,” the general added.

Without naming any of the countries, Pakpour stressed that “certain regional and transregional countries” are training and instigating terrorist groups.

“Since the beginning of the current [Persian calendar year on March 20, 2012], a large number of terrorist groups, some of which managed to gain entry into the country, have been disbanded or captured,” the general added.
