Iranian Speaker Congratulates Counterparts on Advent of New Persian Year

Politics - Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani extended his felicitations to his counterparts on the advent of the new Persian Year (Nowruz, March 21).

Larijani sent separate messages to his counterparts in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan Republic, Armenia, Turkey, Iraq, India, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan where people celebrate Nowruz.

"Nowruz celebration is a symbol of friendship and affinity among the nations celebrating the spring equinox," the top Iranian parliamentarian added.

He said that Iran's parliament is ready for expansion of relations with parliaments of the good neighborly nations to restore peace and stability in the region.

Nowruz Festival is celebrated for several thousand years by the nations of the ancient Persian Empire.

Nowruz is celebrated in many parts of the world such as Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Iraqi Kurdistan, parts of Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and the Kurdish region of Turkey
