Iran, Philippines Vow to Broaden All-Out Ties

Politics - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Philippines' newly appointed Ambassador to Tehran Eduardo Martin Meñez, in a meeting here on Tuesday, stressed the need for boosting Tehran-Manila relations in all sectors.

In the meeting, President Rouhani voiced Iran’s readiness to use every chance to raise the level of trade exchanges and cultural relations between the two countries.

The Filipino ambassador, for his part, referred to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries and called for expansion of mutual cooperation.

He said his mission to Tehran mainly focuses on bolstering economic relations between the two nations.

Bilateral relations between the Philippines and Iran started on August 16, 1974. In 2008, Iran invested $125mln in the Philippines' petrochemical market.

Both countries are eyeing to increase cooperation in areas of tourism, food production and industries, energy, construction, technology, science and culture.
