President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday praised the achievements made by the country’s auto industry and said that now and for the first time, Iran’s car-making industry can compete with its global peers.

President Rouhani made the remarks, speaking to reporters, on the sidelines of a ceremony held to celebrate the launch of Dena Plus and Peugeot production lines at Iran Khodro Company. .

Economic independence, self-reliance and self-sufficiency of the country are quite possible through development of national production, the President said.

Rouhani also underlined importance of national production as a means to promote employments and progress of the country.

The Dena Plus auto is 100 percent Iranian made and the Peugeot 2008 is produced by Iran and France through joint venture, President Rouhani noted.

He said that 30 percent of cars produced in Iran are exported abroad and the cars manufactured in the country, has the same technology used in cars introduced to the French market some one and a half months ago.
