Emphasizing that Iran has sent no arms consignment to Yemen, Bahram Qasemi said in a press conference on Monday that Saudi Arabia and its coalition's aggression on Yemen is the main reason of the big crisis that has been created for the poor country.
A military intervention in Yemen was launched in 2015 by Saudi Arabia, accompanied by a number of other Arab states. The bombings have claimed lives of thousands Yemeni civilians, including hundreds of children.
Human rights groups have frequently accused Saudi Arabia of violating basic rights of the people of Yemen, as the coalition has bombarded many civilian places, including schools and hospitals.
The spokesman also expressed hope that they move on a path that does not make the situation more complicated.
Commenting on a resolution that is supposed to be put forth on sending arms to Yemen, Qasemi said that such a resolution would not contribute to Yemen's situation.
Answering a question on the nuclear cooperation between Washington and Riyadh, he said that any such relations should be ironic, Saudi Arabia does not have the required infrastructure and technical know-how, and not everything can be bought and maintained by dollars.
