Iran, China call for resuming full implementation of JCPOA

Tehran and Beijing on Thursday underlined the need for lifting all the sanctions on Tehran so as to pave the way for full implementation of a hard-won multilateral nuclear deal – known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran and China issued a joint statement at the end of a three-day visit to Beijing by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in which the two countries voiced strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of one another, urging closer cooperation between the leaders of both countries to give a boost to bilateral cooperation.

Both nations called for a speedy implementation of a 25-year strategic deal already signed between the two countries, and the need to further increase cooperation in different areas including trade, agriculture, industry, renewable energies, and infrastructure.

The statement criticized the US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA, noting that all the sanctions have to be removed in a verifiable way so as to facilitate the full implementation of JCPOA.
