Iranian, Tajik FMs discuss bilateral ties, regional developments in Samarkand

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian in a meeting with his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin in the Uzbek city of Samarkand discussed bilateral relations and regional developments on Thursday.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the fourth foreign ministerial meeting of Afghanistan’s neighboring states with the participation of Iran and six other countries in Samarkand.

During the meeting, the two foreign ministers called for the further expansion of mutual cooperation in different fields.

The second quartet meeting of Iran, Russia, China and Pakistan on Afghanistan was held before noon today (Thursday) on April 13 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on the sidelines of the fourth meeting of Afghanistan's neighboring countries.

Amirabdollahian, Sergei Lavrov, Qin Gang and Hina Rabbani, were taking part in the meeting and discussed the current situation in Afghanistan.

The first quartet meeting was held on September 16, 2022 on the sidelines of the Shanghai Summit in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
