Referring to plans to reopen the embassies of the two countries based on an agreement in China in March, Amirabdollahian said that the reopening of the Saudi embassy in Tehran and the appointment of the Iranian ambassador to Saudi Arabia will be announced “soon".
The top diplomat added that normalizing ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia is "a huge potential" for the two nations, the region, and the Islamic world.
Amirabdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met and issued a joint statement to resume diplomatic and political relations after some seven years in Beijing, China on April 6, 2023. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to reopen the embassies and consulates as soon as possible.
