Iran, Europe can establish effective dialogues: Amirabdollahian

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian says Iran and Europe can establish goal-oriented and effective dialogues using Belgium’s role in the European Union.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks during a phone conversation with his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib on Saturday. 

“Considering the role of Belgium in the European Union, it can be expected that under mutual respect, the establishment of goal-oriented and effective dialogues will be placed on the agenda of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the European parties,” he said.

The top Iranian diplomat also expressed his satisfaction with the fruition of joint efforts that led to a prisoners recent exchange between the two countries.

The Belgian foreign minister, for her part, appreciated the cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran to help resolve the issue of European prisoners.

In a tweet after the phone conversation, Amirabdollahian said Iran is a completely safe country and an attractive destination for European tourists.

“If some European citizens are not exploited by foreign security services, there is no reason to detain them,” he wrote.
