Iran's Majlis (parliament) speaker Ali Larijani last night warned of efforts some make to play politics and perpetrate fraud in the upcoming Majlis election scheduled to be held in May 2012.

According to Khabar Online correspondent, attending a meeting with the students and scholars of Qom seminaries, Larijani, a top Principlist legislator said: "Pursuing their political objectives, some are to make the climate of Majlis election tumultuous."

The key Principlist factions had earlier notified that what’s called "the deviant current" is running for taking in the upcoming Majlis election, as the Principalists have not provided a unified list of candidates for the election.

They believe, "the deviant current" is led by Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei, the controversial aide and top adviser of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The former has been accused of attempting to reduce the central role of jurisprudents (Foqaha) in the political scene of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Larijani went on to say: "In post Islamic-Revolution era, our country has headed toward progress and development at a steady pace. Continuation of such process is conditioned on compliance with an appropriate model."

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Majlis Speaker noted: "One of the top issues at stake in our society nowadays is the issue of employment, as the government has taken measures to reduce the jobless rate in the country."

"In a visit I paid to an industrial satellite town in the country, I witnessed that unfortunately a part of factories there have become nearly or totally closed down," he said.

"By re-launching such industrial units, we will be able to produce new jobs which would allow our young people to get an income and earn their living," Larijani added.
