Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh arrived in Tehran for an official three-day visit on Friday and was received at the airport by Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.

This is Haniyeh’s second official visit to Iran since Hamas took charge of the Gaza Strip through public elections in 2007.

After his arrival, Haniyeh was officially received by the First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi at Tehran’s Sa’adabad Palace.

During his stay in Iran, Haniyeh will meet and confer with the high-ranking Iranian officials, including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili.

Developments in the region and Palestine will be the main focus of Haniyeh's negotiations with Iranian officials.
