A member of Iran's Majlis says the country will persevere with its nuclear rights and not succumb to pressures under the hegemonic powers’ economic warfare.

“Today, the Iranian nation is in an economic fight with the sworn enemies and should get prepared for the unequal fight,” said Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, the spokesman for the Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy on Thursday.

He added that the Iranian nation would never relinquish its rights including those on the nuclear issue despite the Western powers’ pressure.

The lawmaker noted that Iran's economy is still resilient and dynamic in the face of a dozen sanctions against the country over the past decade.

Despite the pressures on Iran to disrupt its access to the peaceful nuclear energy, Iranians acquired the knowledge to put the Islamic Republic among the top 10 world countries that possess the energy, Naqavi pointed out.

The United States and some of its allies have imposed a series of sanctions against Iran, claiming that the country's nuclear energy program may include a military aspect.

Tehran refutes the allegation, saying that frequent inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have never found any evidence of diversion in Iran's nuclear energy program toward military purposes.

Iran also argues that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and an IAEA member, it has the right to use nuclear energy technology for peaceful purposes.
