“The United States is after adventurism,” Fars News Agency quoted Deputy Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar as saying on Friday.
“Because of the elections they have ahead of them, they are plagued by inconsistencies and paradoxes in their words and actions,” Bahonar stated.
The lawmaker explained that US presidential candidates want to win the vote of the anti-Iran lobbies and on the other hand they want the vote of the pro-Iran groups and this has resulted in their paradoxical comments.
The White House on Wednesday backed UAE claims over the three Iranian islands of the Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa, as Obama met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Washington.
Obama’s remarks come despite countless historical, legal, and geographical documents in Iran and other parts of the world proving that the three islands belong to Iran.
“The three islands are an inseparable part of the Iranian territory and the United Arab Emirates, which is making such claims, should know better that these islands belonged to Iran before that country came into existence,” Bahonar pointed out.
He concluded that Iran will always condemn such remarks as there are no legal grounds for them.
