Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi says the United States and its Western allies spill blood by sponsoring terrorism in different countries, which will eventually backfire on them.

“The US and the West spill the blood of thousands of innocent people in Iraq and other Muslim states by training terrorists and dispatching them to other countries, but undoubtedly such measures will finally backfire on themselves,” Rahimi said in a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Liwaa Sumaisem in Tehran on Wednesday.
He called on Iran and Iraq to reinforce their unity and solidarity under circumstances that big and hegemonic powers seek to sow the seeds of discord and disunity among Muslim nations.

The vice president noted that Tehran and Baghdad have close affinities and expressed the Islamic Republic’s readiness to transfer its achievements and experiences to Iraq.

Rahimi further stressed the importance of bolstering the bilateral cooperation to provide facilities and security to millions of Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims.

Host to the shrines of six Shia Imams in the central cities of Najaf, Karbala, Kadhimiya and the northern city of Samarra, Iraq draws millions of pilgrims from Iran and other countries throughout the year.
