Secretary-General of Turkey's National Security Council Muammer Turker underlined that Ankara supports Iran's peaceful nuclear energy program.

Turker raised the issue in a meeting with Tehran's Envoy to Ankara Bahman Hosseinpour on Thursday.

During the meeting, Turker said his country is prepared to provide help in finding a comprehensive solution to disputes over Iran's nuclear program.

Washington and its Western allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program, while they have never presented any corroborative evidence to substantiate their allegations. Iran denies the charges and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually run dry.

As regards bilateral ties, Turker lauded positive cooperation between Iran and Turkey in security fields and campaign against the smuggling of goods and drugs.

The two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in Syria and stressed the importance of bolstering mutual cooperation to put an end to bloodshed in the Arab country.
