Rahimi in a message on Wednesday congratulated New Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn on his election.
He congratulated Desalegn over his election by Ethiopian National Parliament.
Rahimi expressed the hope that Iran and Ethiopian cooperation would be further expanded in the new period on mutual interests, and prayed to Almighty God for well-being and good luck of the prime minister and prosperity and success for the Ethiopian government and nation.
Desalegn served as deputy of ex-primier Meles Zenawi who died on August 20, at the age of 57, of a sudden infection.
