The Iranian Judiciary's High Council for Human Rights has announced that the country’s Judicial system would take up the death of blogger Sattar Beheshti and was determined to deal with the case immediately and decisively.

In a statement released on Sunday, the High Council of Human Rights said that following an order received from head of the Judiciary Ayatollah Amoli Larijani, the council would launch an immediate investigation into the case to find and prosecute person or people involved in the death of Sattari.
The council would soon announce the result of the investigation and report it back to people, the statement added.

Blogger Sattar Beheshti was arrested and charged with cybercrime. He passed away in prison.
The High Council of Human Rights’ full statement is as following:

In the Name of Allah
“Due to reports over the death of Mr Sattar Beheshti during his investigation in Iran’s police Department, the High Council of Human Rights would pursue the case completely and would examine all aspects of the case as ordered by head of the Judiciary Ayatollah Amoli Larijani. The results of the investigation would soon be reported back by Judiciary spokesman and other officials to the nation.
Accordingly, any person who is involved in the case, because of his negligence or fault, would be subjected to immediate, determined and not tolerated prosecution of the country’s Judicial system.
In the Islamic Republic of Iran rights of all citizens, even suspects and detainees, have been and will be preserved based on the current rules, including the law of respecting the legitimate freedom and protecting civil rights approved in 2003.
The Human Rights Council hopes that the immediate and determined prosecution of the case be regarded as a clear example of the Judiciary’s strong determination in dealing with any violation of the law and human rights.”
