Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili has called on the group of six major world powers to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

Stressing Iran’s readiness to hold talks with the P5+1 (Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US plus Germany), Jalili said on Wednesday that Tehran advises the group to return to the talks as soon as possible.

The representative of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks following a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov in the capital city of Tehran.

Jalili added that Iran hopes the P5+1 will arrange the resumption of talks based on the recognition of the Islamic Republic’s rights.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ryabkov told Press TV that Russia welcomes “an earliest possible resumption of talks” between Iran and the P5+1 “preferably before the end of the year.”

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.

Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
