A number of ministry officials along with the Iranian cineaste Mehdi Faqih attended the meeting held on November 15, 2012.
Fostering the cultural relations was discussed between two sides while the countries’ potentials for the purpose were reviewed, Mehr News Agency reports.
“We have been seeking to expand relations with Egypt as a country with a great history of civilization and strong influence over the world of Islam and Arabs,” said Mohammad Hosseini during the meeting.
“If Iran and Egypt cooperate closely in cinema, they could be serious rivals for Hollywood and Zionism and even the Islamic nations will benefit from this collaboration,” Hosseini noted.
“While Hollywood is trying to distort and ridicule the Muslim’s historical and cultural identity, the artists from Islamic countries have greater responsibility to struggle against the West’s efforts,” Iran's Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Javad Shamaqdari had earlier stressed in his meeting with the Egyptian cineastes.
The actors Sameh Al-Sariti, Abdel Aziz Makhyoun and Ashraf Abdul Ghafoor along with the cameraman Mahmoud Abdul Sami, musician Iman El-Bahr Darwish and producer Mohammad Fouzi are among the delegation who was invited by Iran Cinema Organization (ICO).
Meanwhile, Iran's Farabi Cinema Foundation had earlier hosted a group of Egyptian cineastes in 2011 to boost cinematic cooperation between two countries.
