Taking into account the friendship between the two countries, we think that there will never be intervention in Iran from the territory of Azerbaijan. But I must say that we keep under complete control every action of the third countries that are against Iran. Up to now, we have had no document about entering, spying of any Israeli drone from the airspace of Azerbaijan,” Iran’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen said in his interview to APA.
Asked about anti-Azerbaijan propaganda by “Seher” TV channel of Iran, Mohsen Pak Ayeen said hesitant attitude of some people towards Iran’s sovereignty has also become an ordinary case in Azerbaijan.
“The World Azerbaijanis Congress holds an official event, where it is stated that they recognize South Azerbaijan, do not recognize Iran as a state. The person, who says this, is the member of the Azerbaijani parliament, leader of a party. These factors cause problems in the relations. Unfortunately, some organizations and parties in Azerbaijan think that various nations live in Iran, while a nation consisting of various peoples live in Iran. Various peoples – Azeris, Belujs, Arabs, Kurds all have created one nation,” he said.
To APA’s question “How is this nation called?”, the diplomat said: “Iranian nation.”
“We are not against the existence of peoples. All these peoples are united under one umbrella – Islam and Iranian nation.”
Ambassador said there is no need for a mediator in Iran-US relations.
“If the Americans change their approach, it will pave the way for talks and discussions. As long as the US disdains all, its relations with Iran will never be normalized. If the US changes its approach, discussions are held as two equal-right states, the problems will be solved. As long as the US pursues hostile policy, we will stand against it,” he said.
Asked about Iran’s high-level relations and friendship with Armenia, the invader, Mohsen Pak Ayeen said: “Armenia is our neighbor. The security of the region is very important and in different times, we have made many efforts for the restoration of the peace in the region. Both Azerbaijan-Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh conflict and Iraqi problem. If we have relations with both countries, we can easily make efforts for the restoration of peace in the region. We have normal neighborhood relations with Armenia and it doesn’t prevent us from saying that Azerbaijan is right. We have underlined several times our recognition and protection of the rights and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan both on the level of the UN, foreign minister or the other officials.”
The ambassador said that if Azerbaijan and Armenia gave their consents, Iran was ready to mediate in the settlement of the conflict: “Iran has once put forward its mediation proposal and several discussions were held. We were very close to conclusion. Azerbaijan and Armenia preferred the format of the OSCE Minsk Group. We respected their choice and stood aside. Then we believed that the Minsk Group couldn’t solve this problem. Now everyone has come to this conclusion.
The two OSCE co-chairing countries are outside the region, they don’t attach importance to the security of the region. They are not interested in the solution of this problem. They faced difficulties in Iraq and Afghanistan. Therefore, we think that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict must be solved with the help of the regional countries. It is a regional conflict and regional countries must make more efforts for the settlement of this conflict. If both sides give their consent, Iran is ready to mediate,” he said.
