An Iranian oil industry official says oil production in the Reshadat oil field, located near Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf, will rise to 22,000 barrels per day in the near future.

Abbas Rajab-Khani, the director of the Lavan operational area of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, made the remarks in an interview with the Oil Ministry's official news agency, SHANA, on Monday.

“Through the inauguration of four new wells, the production capacity of this oil field will reach 22,000 barrels per day,” Rajab-Khani said.

Rajab-Khani noted that the goal of the project is to increase the Reshadat oil field's oil production to 75,000 barrels per day.

The Reshadat oil field, which was discovered in 1965, is located 110 kilometers southwest of Lavan Island in the Persian Gulf.

Iran has 137.6 billion barrels of proven oil reserves and 29.61 trillion cubic meters of proven gas reserves. It has the world's fourth largest oil reserves and second largest gas reserves.
