The talks, which ended on Thursday, were led by Iran’s Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ali Asghar Soltanieh and the IAEA Deputy Director General, Herman Nackaerts.
The talks between Iranian and IAEA negotiators were focused on finding a structured framework for mutual cooperation.
On Tuesday, Nackaerts had said the IAEA inspectors hoped to win Iran’s green light to visit the Parchin military site outside Tehran.
But Iran dismissed allegations about clandestine nuclear activities at Parchin.
“Parchin is a military site and continues its own specific activities without having anything to do with [Iran’s] nuclear work,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday.
The United States, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Iran argues that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
