“Destroying public installations, industrial infrastructure, oil pipes and electricity lines are aimed at dealing blow to the Syrian nation,” Jalili said at a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader al-Halqi on Tuesday in Tehran.
Praising the resistance of Syrian people, Jalili said, “By supporting the resistance in Syria, everyone must prevent the Zionist regime [of Israel] and its supporters from achieving their goals.”
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of security personnel, have been killed in the violence.
The Syrian government says the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants fighting the Syrian government are foreign nationals.
“The logic of the West and countries that support terrorist currents in Syria contradicts international standards and is not defensible,” Jalili added.
The Syrian premier, for his part, said terrorists have targeted Syria’s infrastructure in order to increase pressure on people.
Halqi arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a two-day visit. During his stay, he discussed matters of mutual interest as well as regional and international developments with senior Iranian officials.
