“The Majlis is prepared to have the best level of cooperation with the next administration regarding the formation of the [new] cabinet,” said Aboutorabi-Fard in a meeting with President-elect Hassan Rohani on Wednesday.
The senior parliamentarian and Rohani also exchanged views on the current affairs of the country and ways to resolve the people’s economic problems.
Rohani emerged victorious in Iran’s 11th presidential election on June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, gaining 18,613,329 votes, or 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots.
Nearly 50.5 million Iranians, including more than 1.6 million first-time voters, were eligible to participate in the presidential election. The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent, according to the Interior Ministry.
Rohani currently represents Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in the country’s Supreme National Security Council, is a member of the Expediency Council and the Assembly of Experts, and is also director of the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Research.
