Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham strongly criticized the British Foreign Office's recent statement about the human rights conditions in Iran as blatant interference in the country's internal affairs.

Afkham’s remarks came after the British foreign office in a statement claimed that Tehran has violated the human rights conditions.

"The British foreign office's recent report on Iran is repetitious, biased and based on a completely one-sided look at Islamic Republic of Iran's realities," the Iranian foreign ministry spokeswoman said.

She underlined that Iran has always cooperated with other countries at international human rights organization and it has always voiced its opposition to dual-track approaches and politicizing the human rights issue.

"The violation of the rights of the (religious) minorities, Muslims and migrants on a daily basis are objective evidence according to which the British government cannot claim to be advocate of human rights in a bid to determine approaches for other nation, including the Iranian nation and government that is a democrat one," Afkham said.

Iranian officials have on numerous occasions deplored the West's anti-Iran Human Rights reports as political-motivated and biases.

Last month, Iranian Envoy to the UN offices in Geneva Mohsen Naziri Asl blasted the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, Ahmed Shaheed, for his baseless allegations against Tehran.

"Those behind the draft resolution against Iran's human rights record were to deepen a rift among countries and consequently, impose their norms upon others," Naziri Asl said, addressing the 25th meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Naziri-Asl pointed to the drafting of the anti-Iran resolution as a dangerous and concerning act, and said, "The resolution would encourage competition instead of cooperation and weaken the basic principles of the international body."

He added that Iran's positive achievements in the field of human rights resulted from the country's constructive interaction with the international community were ignored in the draft resolution.

“In reality the claim by the main sponsors of this resolution regarding human rights advocacy has proved to be a myth, as they have, in numerous occasions, put on display their fully politicized approach to human rights issues,” Naziri Asl said.

The Iranian diplomat referred to Tehran's reports to the international human rights monitoring bodies as well as its constructive cooperation with the UN Human Rights Council as examples of positive achievements.
