The scientific and technological developments of Iran and its trans-regional agreements and achievements will benefit long-term interests of the entire region and the neighboring countries, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Tuesday.

Zarif made the remarks in Iran-UAE Joint Economic Commission in Abu Dhabi.

Zarif said that peace and stability in the region can only be maintained through political, security, economic and cultural cooperation among the regional countries.

He underlined the role of private sectors and non-governmental organizations in promotion of ties between the countries of the region.

During the session Iranˈs foreign minister assured his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed an-Nahyan that Iran is a reliable ally for all Persian Gulf littoral countries.

Referring to the current sensitive situation of the region, Zarif underlined the influential role of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

Zarif noted that ethnic conflicts, extremism and terrorism are threatening the region which require vigilance of the nations, wisdom of regional leaders and their direct and continuous negotiations to thwart the threats.

He reiterated Iranˈs readiness to engage in dialogue and constructive interaction with the neighboring countries to resolve regional issues.

On the religious, historical and cultural common grounds between the two countries, the Iranian top diplomat expressed hope that with respect to international law and mutual and regional interests, the current Iran-UAE negotiations would lead to explore the regional realities which will ensure the interests of all countries in the Persian Gulf region and upgrade its international standing.
