Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to pay an official visit to Russia on Friday to discuss international and regional developments, and explore new avenues for expanding all-out ties.

Iran’s Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanayee said in a statement on Saturday that the Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to meet with his Russian counterpart Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on August 29.

The Iranian envoy added that the two sides would spare no efforts to strengthen mutual cooperation in all fields.

Sanayee further added regional and international developments would also be high on the agenda of Zarif's meetings in Moscow.

Meantime, the ambassador said that Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to visit more European countries in the near future.

Iran and Russia enjoy strong ties in all the various fields, including economy and international cooperation. Iran-Russia trade currently totals $5bln a year, but economists say they can at least quadruple the volume of their trade exchanges.
