Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif plans to take a three-leg official tour to Italy, Luxemburg and Belgium within the next 10 days to discuss the latest regional and international developments, and explore new ways of promoting ties with the European states.

Zarif confirmed his plan to pay official visits to the three European countries, and added, "I will meet the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton in the Belgian capital, Brussels."

On Tuesday, Zarif told his Italian counterpart Federica Mogherini in a telephone conversation that he has a plan to pay a visit to Rome.

A report said on Sunday that the meeting between Zarif and Ashton is scheduled to be held on the sidelines of a visit by the Iranian top diplomat to Belgium early next month to discuss the latest developments in talks between Iran and the world powers.
