Zarif: Iran standing alongside Palestine in fighting Zionist regime

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated Iran’s support for the Palestinian nation, saying that it is standing next to Palestine and resistance movement in the fight against Zionist regime’s occupation and aggressions.

He made the remarks in a meeting with representatives of the Palestinian groups in Iran’s Embassy in Beirut on Sunday night.

Zarif recalled that supporting Palestine is among major policies of Islamic Republic of Iran.

He also described Zionist regime's aggressive policies against Palestine and other countries, which are carried with US backing, as a big threat to the region.

Representatives of the Palestinian groups also appreciated Iran’s stance in support of Palestine, reiterating that the Palestinian nation’s motivation for resistance has increased over the past year following raising the ‘deal of century’ project.

Ali Feisal, from Democratic Front of Palestine Liberation, Abdelaziz al-Minavi, a member of Islamic Jihad Political Office, Ehsan Ataya, representative of Islamic Jihad in Lebanon, Talal Naji, deputy secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine were among the figures attending the meeting with Zarif.

Zarif arrived in Beirut on Sunday to meet Lebanese authorities.

On his two-day visit, Zarif is slated to meet Lebanese President Michel Oun, Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Bari, and Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil.

Zarif's latest visit to Lebanon dates back to two years ago when he held talks with Lebanon’s newly-elected President Aoun in Beirut, becoming the first foreign minister to meet with the Lebanese head of state.
