Tehran hosting FIVB U19 World Championship

FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship kicked off in the Iranian capital on Tuesday with participation of 18 teams.

The world championship, which will last for ten days, is a new experience as it is being held during the COVID-19 pandemic; and Iran Volleyball Federation should hold the world competitions under the tough regulations issued by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).

Spectators and commentators are not allowed to enter the place of the games as a preemptive measure.

Since its outbreak worldwide in December 2019, the coronavirus has killed over 4,450,000 in different world countries; and the number of the dead in Iran has passed 102,000.

Dominican Republic and Guatemala could not attend the Tehran contests because some members of their teams had been infected by COVID-19.

Iranian volleyball team has recorded two gold, two silver, and two bronze medals during the previous world championships, and it is after receiving its seventh medal.
