According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, The decision, issued by the administration of President Donald Trump, has sparked widespread international debate.
It expands the list of countries subject to U.S. entry restrictions and effectively prevents thousands of supporters from cheering for their national teams in American stadiums.
The move has drawn sharp criticism from both sports and legal circles, with many describing it as arbitrary and unfairly targeting fans whose sole intention is to support their teams at the world’s largest football event.
Described as “unprecedented” in World Cup history, reports from the French newspaper L’Équipe, citing the “The Touchline” account on X (formerly Twitter), suggest that the list of banned countries could expand to include a fifth team: the Democratic Republic of Congo, which must play in the tournament’s playoff round.
According to the same sources, a directive signed by President Trump last week enforces a complete travel ban for ordinary fans from the affected countries during the tournament.
The only exceptions are official delegations, coaching staff, and immediate family members of players. Ordinary supporters will not be permitted to attend matches in U.S. stadiums.
