Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack on Imam Ali Mosque in Syria

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned a terrorist attack targeting worshippers at the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in Syria’s Homs province, which resulted in the killing and injury of several civilians.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, described the attack as a clear act of violence against civilians and a place of worship. He extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for those injured.

Reiterating Iran’s long-standing position against all forms of terrorism and violent extremism, Baghaei stressed that ongoing insecurity in Syria is closely linked to illegal foreign interventions, violations of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the occupation of parts of Syrian territory. According to him, these factors have created conditions that allow terrorist groups to survive, expand, and continue their activities.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also called for the identification and prosecution of those responsible for planning and carrying out the attack, underscoring the responsibility of Syria’s transitional authorities to ensure the safety of civilians and prevent similar incidents.
