Iraqi people prove security not buyable: Iranian official

Secretary of The Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said in this northeastern province on Sunday that the Iraqi people have proven security is not buyable.

Shamkhani made the remarks in the inauguration ceremony of the 9th General Assembly of the Islamic Radios and Televisions Union (IRTVU) currently underway in Mashad.

He added the Iraqi people managed to liberate the northwestern city of Mosul, thanks to a Fatwa (religious order) issued for mobilizing the people.

Shamkhani said the unity of Iraqi people has paved the way for formation of a permanent defensive organization which is able to tackle any possible threat at present and in the future.

Touching upon the message of Iran’s missile strike targeting Daesh terrorist group, he added the Islamic Republic is developing its missile capabilities aimed to increase the country's deterrent power.

He added Iran missile power is one of the main fundamentals of Islamic Republic’s authority.

The 9th General Assembly of IRTVU convened in Mashad, attended by 600 foreign guests and 230 international channels from 36 countries.

Mashad was selected as the Cultural Capital of the Muslim World for 2017 during the 7th conference of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) member states in the Algerian capital city of Algiers in 2007.
