Iran asks Mideast governments to help weaken terrorists

Politics - A senior Iranian diplomat has decried ISIL's brutal killing of a Jordanian pilot and the beheading of two Japanese nationals, calling on the Middle East governments to help weaken the Takfiri militants.

"The countries in the region should consider these growing inhumane acts as a serious alarm bell for the region's security and stability and block the routes used for the strengthening of terrorists in certain regional countries," Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, said Thursday.

He added that the January terrorist attack in France and the recent gruesome killing of the Jordanian pilot by ISIL were a product of the wrong policy of using terrorism as a tool in Iraq, Syria and the entire Middle East region.

“We should acknowledge that security is an overarching issue; [therefore] you cannot destabilize Iraq, Syria and Lebanon and then expect security in the region,” he said.

Amir-Abdollahian also reemphasized Iran's seriousness in "fighting terrorism and countering Takfiri extremism."

ISIL released a video late Tuesday showing Jordanian airman Moaz al-Kassasbeh being torched to death in a cage. The highly choreographed video is the latest in series of footage released by the group showing the killing of various hostages captured by the Takfiri terrorist group.

ISIL claims to implement a strict interpretation of the Islamic law, but many deny that, saying the group uses such claims to cover up its harsh, inhumane activities. The group, which now controls swathes of lands in Syria and Iraq, has been involved in a series of heinous crimes against civilians and government forces in the two Arab countries.
