Iran, Australian FMs stress continuation of diplomacy, dialogue

The Iranian and Australian foreign ministers exchanged views on the most important issues of mutual interest.

In a telephone conversation with Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong, Hossein Amirabdollahian said that there are bilateral, regional and international spheres for the two sides to cooperate.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is the strongest force in the fight against Daesh and terrorism in the region, he said, adding that IRGC plays a key role in creating regional stability and security.

He also pointed to the presence of one of the leaders of the Al-Ahwaziyeh terrorist group in Australia, adding that the terrorist group is accused of killing and assassinating citizens in Iran.

For her part, the Australian side, called for the continuation of dialogue and diplomacy between Iran and Australia.

Congratulating Nowruz, she said that "we should keep the path of diplomacy open to resolve misunderstandings."

She also welcomed the continuation of dialogues between Iran and the West, as well as the cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, and described this cooperation as constructive.
