According to Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar, 130 candidates will compete in the runoff vote for the remaining 65 remaining parliament seats in 33 constituencies.
The minister said the runoff election will be held one month after the Guardian Council, which supervises elections in Iran, confirms the results of the first round.
Mohammad-Najjar stated that the Interior Ministry has proposed late April for the runoff, but its exact date will be determined in consultation with the Guardian Council.
He added that the highest turnout for the 9th Majlis elections was recorded in Kohkilouyeh-Boyer Ahmad Province, where 89 percent of eligible voters cast ballots, followed by Ilam and Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Provinces with respective voter turnout rates of 87 and 81 percent.
Over 48 million Iranian citizens were eligible to vote in the elections with 3.9 million first-time voters.
Voter turnout in Tehran was reported at 48 percent.
