Ahead of the multifaceted talks with the P5+1 -- Russia, China, Britain, France, the US and Germany - in Istanbul, a source close to the Iranian delegation says Iran sees few encouraging points in the remarks of US and EU officials.

However, the source added that the Iranian delegation will wait for the official remarks of the P5+1 when both sides sit at the negotiating table on Saturday.

The source also stated that a member of the Iranian team has met with the representatives of Russia and China before the start of the official talks with the P5+1.

The Iranian delegation, which is headed by the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, arrived in the Turkish city of Istanbul Friday morning.

Iran and the P5+1 are scheduled to resume a fresh round of multifaceted talks in Istanbul on Saturday. They will exchange views on a host of issues, particularly Iran's nuclear energy program.

Iran and the P5+1 have already held two rounds of multifaceted talks in Geneva in December 2010 and in Istanbul in January 2011.

The US and European Union accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program and have used the pretext to impose unilateral and international sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iran has strongly refuted the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to the peaceful use of nuclear technology.

Earlier on Thursday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated Tehran’s resolve to retain its fundamental rights even under the harshest pressures.
