The head of economy commission of Iran's Majlis (parliament) said that the 8th Islamic Republic of Iran's parliament indebts its power to the management adopted by the Speaker Ali Larijani.

Speaking to Khabar Online today, Arsalan Fathipour described the positive qualifications of suitable candidate for heading the 9th Majlis: "The prime characteristic of the Majlis Speaker would be his authority and power in defending the MPs."

Fathipour who sits for Kaleybar [in East Azerbaijan Province of Iran] in the Majlis maintained that if we want the 9th Majlis achieve its goals, we should respect common wisdom. In his view, supporting common wisdom is the second characteristic of a qualified Majlis Speaker.

"Some particular lawmakers should not decide for the other parliamentarians. In the 9th Majlis, all lawmakers should give their opinions on impeachments, passing bills and new plans," Fathipour said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the head of economy commission of the Majlis asserted that the government is tasked with implementing the laws ratified by parliament and the parliament is tasked with passing the bills and monitoring the measures taken by the government.

"In the 9th Majlis the real problems and issues of our country including the condition of people's livelihood and unemployment must be conscientiously taken into consideration. We should not provide the ground for foreign media to disseminate adverse propaganda against us," he said.

Earlier Fathipour had censured a new round of economic sanctions against Iran began in November including an immediate ban on all new contracts to import, purchase or transport Iranian crude and petroleum products. Freezing the assets of Iran's central bank and ban trade in gold and other precious metals were other measures

He said such actions will seriously damage the world economy and could soar up oil price to USD 250 per barrel while ss a member of the IAEA and a signatory to the NPT, Tehran firmly rejects the West’s allegation on its atomic program stressing that the program is aimed at peaceful purposes including producing electricity.

The representative of Kaleybar who was formerly a government backer MP referred to the monitoring acts of the 8th Majlis stressing its supervisory reports were exceeded those of the 7th Majlis.

"I believe this approach should be developed in the 9th Majlis. However, as I said earlier the monitoring practice of the 8th Majlis was owing to its directorship set by the Majlis Speaker."
