Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says Tehran expects the P5+1 to adopt a positive approach towards the upcoming negotiations.

“Iran entered the Istanbul and Baghdad talks with good will and with the aim of settling the [Iranian nuclear] issue. We hope that the other side will enter the next negotiations in Moscow with a positive approach as well,” Salehi said on Friday.

He said that Iran-P5+1 talks are on the right track although the pace of negotiations may sometimes slow down or pick up, adding that Tehran is upbeat about the upcoming talks.

The top Iranian diplomat said that the negotiations were not easy, urging both sides to contribute to the process of talks in a manner that will yield a favorable result for both sides.

Salehi said that Iran followed a policy based on the nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) and said all our efforts are aimed at helping the NPT as a non-proliferation treaty to totally prevent non-civilian nuclear activities in the world.

Such a policy is in line with the Islamic Republic’s national interests and we place emphasis on it, he added.

Iran and the P5+1 -Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany- wrapped up their meeting in Baghdad on May 24 after two days of negotiations.

The Iranian negotiating delegation was headed by the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili, and the delegations of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany were headed by EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

Both sides agreed to hold another round of talks in Moscow on June 18-19.

Tehran and the P5+1 have already held three rounds of talks, one in Geneva in December 2010, and two in Istanbul in January 2011 and in April 2012.
