Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast says the West’s approach of mounting pressure and imposing sanctions on Tehran will adversely affect the future P5+1 talks with the Islamic Republic.

“As long as Western officials think that they can force us to back down, it will definitely have a negative impact on the success of our negotiations with them,” Mehmanparast said in his weekly press conference on Tuesday.

The Western countries claim that they want to resolve different crises rationally, but their actions contradict their claims, Mehmanparast added.
Commenting on the expert-level meeting between the representatives of Iran and the P5+1, Mehmanparast said Iran is fully committed to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and its criteria for the talks is defending the country’s nuclear rights.

The meeting between the representatives of Iran and the P5+1 - Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany - began in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Tuesday.

Washington and some of its allies claim that Iran's nuclear energy program includes a military component.

Iran has strongly refuted the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.press tv/281
